They answer a few questions about how they actually cook — what they love, what they'd rather never see again, how much time they've got on a Tuesday. We write the recipes around the answers, they read every one on screen, and only then does anything get printed.
The code arrives by email, so you can send it the same day. Every amount covers a full edition, with their name on the cover.
What happens when they open it
You are not buying them a book. You are buying them the afternoon where they get to choose one — which is why it can't be the wrong book.
1The code arrives by email
Send it straight away, or choose the morning it should land. They can forward it, print it, or you can read the code out over the table — whoever holds it can use it.
2They answer a few questions
How they cook, what they love eating, what they would rather never see again, how much time they actually have on a weeknight. It takes a couple of minutes and it is the whole point: the book gets written around their answers, not yours.
3They read every recipe before spending it
The full list appears on screen and they can swap anything they would not cook. Nothing is charged and nothing is printed until they are happy with it, so there is no version of this where they are stuck with a book they did not want.
4We print it and post it to them
A hardback with their name on the cover, printed and bound in the UK, usually with them inside ten working days. It arrives in plain packaging with no prices anywhere, and the invoice goes by email.
Before you buy one
Do I have to know anything about how they cook?
No — that is the entire reason this exists. You choose the size of the book; they answer everything else themselves. If you already know their tastes well enough, building the book for them is the warmer gift, and you can do that instead.
What if the amount does not cover what they want?
They pay the difference at the checkout and see the exact figure before confirming. Every amount here covers a full edition on its own, so this only comes up if they decide to size up.
Can I give it to them on the day rather than by email?
Yes. Choose a send date at the checkout so it lands on the morning you want, or send it to yourself and print it. The code is all that matters — it does not have to arrive from us.
Will they know how much I spent?
The email shows the value of the card, so yes. If you would rather they did not, buy the book for them instead and choose the recipes yourself — the printed book ships with no prices inside and the invoice comes to you.
What if they never use it?
The card is valid for 12 months, and the date is printed in the email so it is never a surprise. If something has gone wrong — wrong address, lost email — reply to the receipt we send you and we will sort it out.
